A liquid ring vacuum pump compresses gas
using an auxiliary liquid (normally water)
as a liquid compressant, as sealing liquid
and cooling liquid.
The 4 Functions of the Liquid Ring:
PISTON:
the liquid ring segment between two blades is acting
like a piston causing intake, compression and discharge.
SEALING:
between blades and body (no metal-metal contact)
and between suction and discharge ports (avoiding a by-pass).
COOLING:
evacuate the specific heat of the gas, the heat of compression and of condensation.
CONDENSING:
the suction capacity is increased by condensing a portion of the vapour at the inlet.
